All week, and ever since the election really, we've heard from the media and from Democratic leaders that we should put the past behind us and come together as one nation to move this country forward. We should abandon the politics of fear and the politics of hate and move into a post-partisan era of prosperity.
I was almost ready to give that a shot. I used to be a Republican, now I'm an independent, an Anti-Federalist, without a party, but I was going to try and be optimistic and supportive of the new President. Starting today, on Obama's first day in office, I was going to turn over a new leaf.
That lasted all of 5 minutes. As George W Bush was leaving office, the crowd held signs saying "Arrest Bush" and chanted "hey hey hey, goodbye."
So much for unity.
