Things are looking good in Tiger Town

The guys over at Block-C have a news update for us today. Basically, we have CJ Spiller back, Dabo has been discussing football and life with Danny Ford, and we're working on a much more aggressive offense. Good news all around.

I'm starting to feel like we might have a big game this weekend. Like a Georgia Tech in 2006 type weekend. I don't know, but it'll be fun to watch.

Spread the Wealth Around

Couple of Music Reccomendations

Just a quick note tonight about a couple of new albums you may want to check out.

John Legend has released a new CD titled "Evolver". Check it out. John Legend has been one of my favorites ever since his debut album "Get Lifted." This guy has that feel of Motown but with a new twist, and he actually can sing. I've seen him twice in concert and he is a real talent, which is extraordinarily rare these days.

Raphael Saadiq has released "The Way I see it" and while I don't know much about the guy I have heard a couple of the songs and I must give him praise where it is due. The guy again has a little of the old school sound and he does a good job.

I must be in a Motown mood tonight, but I have to say that both of these Albums are refreshing. They probably won't be the hottest new tracks in the local dance clubs (well except for "green light") but they are great to listen to. It's nice to see that a little soul is still out there.

One more quick example

Howard Kurtz at the Washington Post lets us know of another example of liberal fascism:

The L.A. Times ran a story last April about a 2003 party at which Obama said nice things about Palestinian rights advocate and Israel critic Rashid Khalidi, who he said reminds him “of my own blind spots and my own biases. . . . It’s for that reason that I’m hoping that, for many years to come, we continue that conversation — a conversation that is necessary not just around Mona and Rashid’s dinner table [but around] this entire world.”

The McCain camp tells me the paper refused to release a videotape of the remarks that it had obtained. Little Green Footballs calls that “media malfeasance of an almost astounding degree. They have a video that could change the stakes in this election and they’re hiding it.”

“We’re not a video service,” Doyle McManus, the Times Washington bureau chief, tells me. “We’re not suppressing anything. We were the first to report on these facts.” He declines to say whether the paper considered posting the video.

From Freedom to Fascism

Well, the election is only days away, and we're starting to get a glimpse of how life is going to be under the Barack Obama and Joe Biden run Socialist Republic of America. This is not to say that things would be much better under McCain and the gutless modern Republican party, but it's pretty scary nonetheless.

Apparently Joe Biden is going around banning TV stations where the interviewers ask him direct questions about factual information in regards to his background and financial dealings. Check out this clip from Fox News:

After watching that you'd wonder: Wow, what was that interview like? Fox News must have edited it to fit with their vast right wing conspiracy, right? Let's look for the original...

Well then, it appears YouTube has conveniently removed said video from their service due to "copyright infringement." Riiiight... just like all those Sarah Palin interviews, huh? That's what I thought.

So we've got Obama and Biden running around silencing news stations that have the gall to actually ask them questions and dominant internet companies (Google) helping out by removing evidence. These are the clowns that are going to be running the country soon. I wonder what they'll do with all that power?

Ain't fascism grand? I can't wait until the purges start!

This Week's Life Lesson: Don't Drive a 300C in Standing Water

Sometimes life teaches you painful lessons. This past friday night was one of those times. I was going out to see some of my friends in downtown Charleston on a typical fall rainy evening. I had just driven through downtown on my way back home from the Airport and even though it was also raining then, there was no standing water to be found. What I didn't know, and maybe this is due to my living away from the coast for so long, is that high tide was hitting just as I was leaving the house, and when high tide comes to the peninsula during a moderate rain, everything floods.

I drove from James Island to Downtown via the connector, and as I came off the bridge and continued onto Calhoun Street I was presented with water in front of me and water to the sides of me. There was basically no way to go. The cars in front of me were turning left through one of the puddles and they were doing just fine. I wasn't so lucky. My car stalled out in the water and I had to get it towed home.

Come to find out, the bottom front of the car pushed some water up and into the air intake, and now the engine is basically done for. I have to pay the deductible on my car insurance and they are going to get it fixed for me. Fun stuff.

So long story short: don't go to Downtown Charleston when it's raining, and if you have a Chrysler 300C, avoid any puddles.

This is the only Golf tool I need

Casio EX-FH20

This camera can do semi-HD movies (720p) which is cool but the real exciting feature is it can do 1000 frames per second in Standard Definition! That's awesome!

I currently have a digital camera that has a 60 fps "sports" mode and I use it to take clips of my golf swing so that I can do some self-coaching. It's helped out a good bit and whenever I get a flaw that creeps in and I can't figure it out, I just take a couple of recordings and see what I'm doing.

However, this only works to a certain point. 60 fps just isn't enough. Also, that camera has only about half the resolution of true standard def, which makes the picture blurry. 1000 fps at true SD definitely IS enough. I can't wait to get one of these. Hell I might even start charging people to use it.

Bad News Thursday

Two quick items today:

1) Humphries Suffers Torn ACL, Out for the Year - I hate linking to Tardnet, but they've got the scoop this time. Our OL was getting healthier, but we've just suffered a major setback. Hopefully somebody can step it up. I think after Dabo's had the offense in practice for 2 full weeks he'll be able to get them into better situations and set them up for success, rather than failure. This will make it appear to the laymen that the OL is doing much better.

2) Rich Rod is being rumored as the next Clemson coach - Oh please, please no. Please! Rich Rod is just another Tommy Bowden as far as I'm concerned. He's got to have the best athletes on the field to win the game and sometimes even then he gets out-coached. PLEASE no more gimmick coaches!!!

PS - Mickey Plyler is a complete douchenozzle This type of writing and logic FAIL is why I refer to that place as "Tardnet."

Stuff White People Like #111 - Pea Coats

If you've never visited Stuff White People Like, the time is now. This website is hilarious as it tries to examine the innermost workings of the young-adult white culture. They've even written a book, which makes for great airplane reading.

Here's #111:

As the temperature starts to drop, many white people are forced to start wearing winter coats.  Though many will simply don outdoor performance gear, a great number will turn to the #1 white winter jacket of all time: The Pea Coat.

The Pea Coat was originally worn by sailors and members of the European Navy.   If you think about it for a second, this means that the coat is European, Coastal, and Vintage.  Three of white people’s favorite things.

Another common characteristic of the coat is that white people will write their names on the label inside the coat.  This is not done for fear of theft, but rather as a necessary precaution against party mixups.  You see, when a white person attends a party in the winter time they will often be required to put their jacket in a room with literally dozens of other pea coats!  Since these coats often contain ticket stubs to the same concerts and identical Trader Joe’s receipts, it can be impossible to find the original owner without a name written inside.

Like with sweaters, the process of acquiring a Pea Coat is almost as important as the coat itself.  Fashionable white people can purchase designer pea coats for well over $1000, but the top ranked white people purchase their at Army Surplus stores.  This makes them feel better than the white people have spent thousands of dollars on an identical piece of clothing.

But perhaps the greatest value of the pea coat is its ability to help you determine which non-white people have been accepted into the ranks of white people.  It is not known if the coat is given to them in an elaborate ceremony or if they buy it themselves, but in either case by wearing the coat they are telling the world that they have white friends.

Long story short, if you want to increase your popularity with white people this winter, get a Pea Coat.

Muschamp Followup

If you recall from one of my earlier posts on AntiBowden, I made this statement about prospective coach Will Muschamp:

Texas has a HUGE task coming up. They face Oklahoma on Oct 11 and Missouri on Oct 18. They aren't favored to win either of those games. Let's see how Muschamp's defense performs and what kind of grit they have. They might not necessarily win, but it's how they play that you should be concerned with. Are there halftime adjustments made? Does the defense look like they're prepared?

Well now we find Texas the #1 team in the country after defeating both Oklahoma and Missouri, something that nobody expected them to do just a few weeks ago. Unfortunately I was not able to watch either game, but from reading the post game write-ups it appears that Muschamp's defense was up to the challenge. Oklahoma gave them the most problems and scored a lot of points but when it comes down to it, the Longhorns D did what it had to do to win the game. They made the adjustments that were needed, and stopped Oklahoma when they needed to.

Missouri was another story as they were simply embarrassed all day. So much so that at halftime they had only scored 3 points. They did end up scoring 31 points total, but the game was never close. Overall: A+, great job Muschamp

So if you're like me and you want to see a great defensive coordinator as our next head coach at Clemson, you have to ask yourself: Do you want Bud Foster, who would jump through hoops to come to Clemson, or do you want Muschamp, who reacted to Tommy Bowden being fired after 10 years of failure with "I guess that's just how college football is these days."? I'm still leaning towards Foster, but Muschamp has illustrated this year that he has the talent to get it done.

Official Tackles USC (east) Quarterback

This is hilarious!

That's a pretty good hit! Tackling the quarterback must be an instinct that you can't easily forget.
